When Vincent first came to my practice, he had been diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon. He is an active runner and some time ago he decided to start training for a marathon. The sudden increase in intensity of his running program caused a tendinitis that did not heal properly, as a result his Achilles tendon weakened and subsequently ruptured.
After extensive physical examination I decided that a combination of microcurrent treatment and ultrasound therapy in simultaneously would be the best solution to treat Vincent’s injury. Both therapies are known to elicit cellular effects to promote healing. The success of the therapy influences the healing process positively and generates an extra beneficial effect that of pain relief.
After 6 weeks of treatment followed by exercise therapy routines focused on "eccentric" strengthening, he was rapidly improving and could even slowly start taking up his running programme. Today the Achilles tendon has completely healed and he is looking forward to running his first ever marathon this fall.
